Admission Process

Approximate Vacancies

Class VI: 75-80; Class IX: 20-25 including all reservations of States/Other States/Union Territories. In case of non-availability of SC/ST candidates, the vacancies will be filled in by General Category candidates.

Admission

  1. Â Class-VI:Â Boys those who have completed 10 years but not 11 years of age as on 01st July i.e. candidates who were born between 02nd July 2004 and 01st July 2005 (both dates inclusive).
  2. Class-IX:Â Boys those who have completed 13 years but not 14 years of age as on 01st July i.e. candidates who were born between 02nd July 2001 and 01st July 2002 (both days inclusive).

Examination Schedule

The written examination will be held on 04 January 2015 (Sunday) as per the time table given below:-

Appendix A

Application Form (Appendix-A) along with the following must be completed in all respects and submit to The Principal, Sainik School, Kodagu, PO: Kudige -571232, Taluk: Somwarpet, District. Kodagu, by post only, to reach before the expiry of the last date i.e. 06 December 2014 (Saturday). Filled in applications will not be accepted by hand.Â

Note. Application submitted in wrong form i.e. General /Defence candidates applying in application form meant for SC/ST candidates or vice versa will summarily be rejected.Â

  1. Same copies of recent pass port size photographs taken after 15 Oct 2014 are to be affixed on Application Form and Identification Cards.
  2. The photograph affixed on the Application Form must be attested by the Parent of the candidate.
  3. Identification Card (Appendix-B) with details are to be properly filled in. The candidates should append his signature on the photograph.
  4. Attach attested photocopy copy of Caste Certificate obtained from Tahsildar concerned, in case of SC/ST candidate, failing which application will be rejected.
  5. For Class-VI, attach a Certificate of Proof of Date of Birth obtained from the school in which the boy is studying. In case of Private Study, attach a copy of Birth Certificate obtained from the Registrar of Births and Deaths duly attested by a Gazetted Officer. For Class-IX, attach a Certificate of Proof of Date of Birth obtained from the recognised school in which the boy is presently studying.
  6. In case of ex-service personnel, a certificate from the District Sainik Welfare Officer is to be attached for their eligibility as Ex-Service personnel. Serving Defence personnel are required to submit a Service Certificate from their Commanding Officer and proof of Date of Birth (of the boy) from Service Records.
  7. Applications forwarded without enclosing proof of Date of Birth and Caste Certificate will be rejected.
  8. Study Certificate from the previous school should be submitted along with Application on the proforma enclosed to this prospectus.
  9. Write your latest correspondence address clearly on the envelopes attached to the prospectus and send along with the filled in application form.

Selection Of Centres

  1. Candidate is to indicate two choices of centre. The centre will be allotted on First-Come-First Served basis. If a candidate has not indicated second choice then the final allotment of centre to the eligible candidate rests on Sainik School Kodagu.
  2. Only those boys, who are within the age limits are eligible to apply. There is no relaxation of Age limits to any category.
  3. Candidates who have appeared earlier in the Entrance Examination to Class VI or Class IX are not eligible to appear again for the Entrance Examination for the same class.
  4. Applications found in order and duly completed in all respects ONLY will be registered and the Identification Card dispatched.
  5. Request for change of centre of examination or change in language in which the boy wishes to take the Entrance Examination will NOT be entertained.
  6. Full Postal Address to which Identification Card and other communications are to be sent must be furnished clearly in the Application Form and on the enclosed Envelopes.
  7. The School will not be responsible for non-receipt / late receipt of communication due to postal faults / delays.
  8. Parents/Guardians can contact the School Office or the phone number given in the prospectus for any information regarding the entrance examination and admissions. Parents / Guardians are requested to refrain from approaching any member of the School staff personally / directly or indirectly. If any approach/recommendation is made for any favour of admission, the candidate will be disqualified.

Medical Examination

Guidelines for Medical Examination of Boys seeking admission into Sainik Schools:-
  1. Eye. Distant vision must be 6/6 for each eye with or without glasses. Myopia should not be more than 2.5 (i.e. -2.5D) and hypermetropia should not be more than 3.5 (i.e. +3.5D). He should not be colour blind. Surgical correction of Myopia is a permanent rejection.
  2. Ear. He should be able to hear a forced whisper with each ear from a distance of 610 cms. Presence of wax in the ear is a temporary rejection.
  3. Heart. There should not be any kind of murmur in the heart.
  4. Lungs. There should not be any evidence of past or present disease.
  5. General. There should not be any bodily deformity. He should not have flat foot, knock knees, chest deformity, polydactyl etc. However, height and weight are not taken into cognizance as they are variable at this tender age.

DD

  1. Interested candidates are to remit the following amount mentioned against each Category byCrossed Demand Draft in favour of "Principal, Sainik School, Kodagu", drawn on Corporation Bank/Canara Bank/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of India/Bank of India/Axis Bank/ICICI Bank payable at Kushalnagar (Karnataka) Branch. Candidates seek to obtain the Prospectus and Application Form by Registered Post are to send a self addressed envelope of A4 size with postal stamps (Rs.65/- for Class-VI; Rs.105/- for Class-IX) affixed on the envelope.Â

  2. The cost of prospectus includes Registration Fee, forwarding of 5 sets for (Class-VI) and 3 sets (for Class-IX) of previous years' question papers, Hall Ticket and Joining Instructions (for Selected Boys) etc.MONEY ORDERs / IPOs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  3. Kindly note that though the previous year question papers are being supplied, modification in the form and contents of the question papers cannot be ruled out.
  4. No candidate will be admitted for the written examination unless he produces the Hall Ticket bearing his photograph and signatures.
  5. The envelope containing the filled in application form should be super-scribed in bold letters as:Â

Results

  1. The results will be declared without taking the medical fitness into consideration. Admission will be offered only if the candidate is declared medically fit by the competent authority. However, candidates declared unfit may appeal against the decision and in case the candidate is declared fit by "Appeal Medical Board", he will be considered for admission in the school subject to availability of seats, in the order of merit
  2. The school will charge a fee of Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- for SC/ST) for holding a Review Medical Board. However, the candidate will be required to appear before the Review Medical Board at the designated place at his own expenses and risk.
  3. Details of marks list can be supplied only to the parent/legal guardian of the candidates on payment of Rs.100/- (Rs. One Hundred only) through Demand Draft in favour of the "Principal, Sainik School Kodagu" payable at Kushalnagar (Karnataka) along with stamp affixed self addressed envelope after declaration of results (i.e in the month of Jul/Aug 2015). Copy of Answer sheets will not be provided.
  4. The School does not patronize any coaching institute / agent and the admissions will be made strictly in accordance with the merit and medical fitness of candidates in the Entrance Examination.
