Book fair on 09 Dec 2017

1Sainik School Kodagu organized a Book Fair on 09 and 10 Dec 2017-18 in co-ordination with Newlight Publishing Company, Trivandrum.  The company displayed more than 8000 titles from all walks of life and some of the popular books of present genre.  The books on the rack attracted all the cadets and children of neighbouring schools as they also had an opportunity to visit and buy books.  Being a second saturday and ‘parent’s visit day’, a large number of parents also paid their visit to the fair and purchased some of the books to their wards. On 9th of December the fair was inaugurated at 9.30 Hrs by Sqn Ldr D Mathew, the Officiating Vice- Principal, Sainik School Kodagu and appreciated the collection from different galore.  The fair witnessed the billing amount to INR 75000, which is a record in its own category on the campus. It’s proved that we still have good readers amongst us.

NCC DAY CELEBRATIONS-2017

NCCDayThe School observed NCC day on 24 NOV 17 wherein a lot of activities were carried out by cadets to Stress the significance of NCC as an organisation in empowering the youth of our country. The day started off with an elegant an impeccable ceremonial parade put up by all the cadets of the School.  Gp Cpt RR Lall, Principal, Sainik School Kodagu presided over as the Reviewing Officer for the parade. Sqn Ldr D Mathews , Commanding Officer, JD NCC COY SSKG escorted the Reviewing Officer to the saluting dais. All the houses put up an elegant march past which was followed by NCC pledge which was administered by Cdt Punith, School Captain. Cdt Pavan Thimmiah apprised the parade with a short talk on the genesis and contribution of NCC in Nation building. Thereafter the Reviewing Officer addressed the parade highlighting the importance of NCC which has always been an integral part of the Sainik School training programme in moulding young minds to take up a career in the defence forces.

In the evening, an awareness rally on the theme ‘Join Sainik School, Join Defence Forces” was carried out by 183 cadets from School to Kushalnagar bus stand. Thereafter an information kiosk on Sainik School admission was set up in the bus stand where cadets entertained queries of the public regarding the school activities and admission procedure. A section of the cadets were also involved in distribution of Sainik School pamphlets and admission brochures to the public. A cleanliness drive was also carried out in and around K.S.R.T.C bus stand with the help of Kushalnagar Municipality department. A street play was also organised showcasing the valiant sacrifice of our soldiers who have become martyrs to uphold the freedom and integrity of our motherland. Overall the entire events had received wide public attention and the NCC unit of the School has been able to highlight the relevance and significance of NCC in shaping the lives of the young generation.

Brahmagiri Sahodaya cluster volley ball and throw ball competitions 2017-18

         Sainik School Kodagu feels immensely proud of hosting Brahmagiri Sahodaya cluster volley ball and throw ball competitions 2017-18 which were held on 18th Nov, 2017. Six schools took part in the competitions. In volleyball junior category Sainik School Kodagu added a feather to its cap by winning the first position. The competition culminated in building harmony and sportsmanship among the participating schools.
